Microsoft’s mice, keyboards, and webcams are being discontinued
- nazgulsenpai 3y ago> Microsoft will no longer manufacture mice, keyboards, and webcams that are Microsoft-branded. Instead, Microsoft is now focusing on its Surface-branded PC accessories, which include mice, keyboards, pens, and more. So they are just changing the name?
- goosedragons 3y agoPretty much although the Surface line tends to be more expensive for not really much better if at all. I wasn't a huge fan of the Surface Ergo keyboard, felt like a worse more expensive version of the Microsoft branded Ergo one.
- vitorgrs 3y agoNo. The Surface label is not sold worldwide. In Latin America no surface accessorie are sold, because... no surfaces are sold.
- yccs27 3y agoThe headline is so clickbaity - It‘s not all Microsoft‘s products, it‘s Microsoft-branded ones being discontinued (or rebranded).
- pxtail 3y agoDiscontinued under "Microsoft" brand - allegedly they still want to sell hardware like this but under Surface label I hope they won't ditch ergonomic series - I really like their 'Sculpt Comfort Desktop '[0] keyboard and can recommend it - for me it hits sweet spot between being slightly more ergonomic than regular keyboard and at the same time not being weird to the point where I would need to relearn how to type. It has small flaw (in my perception)- function keys are activated by moving physical switch instead of holding down some equivalent of Fn key. Apart from that it's great, 2xAAA batteries last forever - and palm rest can be disassembled and repaired if soft material which covers it wears out!!! Yep! I know, it sounds insane but it's true - there are small screws under it's rubber feet, I already replaced it once and my keyboard is almost like new <3 [0]https://www.microsoft.com/en/accessories/products/keyboards/sculpt-comfort-desktop?activetab=pivot:overviewtab https://www.microsoft.com/en/accessories/products/keyboards/...
- vitorgrs 3y agoBut the Surface label is not sold worldwide. Here in Brazil no surface accessories they are sold, because... no surfaces are sold.
- notherquestie 3y agoWhat about the (experimental big button'd -you can hit with your ellbow) hardware for the (war-)disabled folks, there was something xbox-specific for their participation in gaming online if i remember correctly?
- bloqs 3y agoThey are opting to remove a historically popular, and good quality range to make more of the historically less popular range that also sacrifices ergonomics to conform to the brand/design language (Surface's blockiness). Politics over product as usual
- w0m 3y agoSounds like rebadging Microsoft -> Surface.
