Cymatics: Science vs. Music – Nigel Stanford
- djaychela 3y agoThis is all impressive stuff and beautifully filmed, but it reminds me of a number of Steve Mould videos on YouTube - where he would explain what's happening, usually in an interesting way. I'm not convinced that the hi hat mic is doing what it sounds like though, I think there's a lot of filtering happening on the raw sound...
- captn3m0 3y agoThe music was written after the video was shot, which was decided on what frequencies looked best on camera, and were filmable. https://nigelstanford.com/Cymatics/Behind_the_Scenes.aspx https://nigelstanford.com/Cymatics/Behind_the_Scenes.aspx
- dr_dshiv 3y agoJamie Shadowlight is the only musician I know who can musically generate specific visual forms with her violin. It’s incredible. Her show at the San Diego Planetarium was deeply moving. https://instagram.com/shadowlightcymatics?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= https://instagram.com/shadowlightcymatics?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y...
- randcraw 3y agoWhile you're attuned to his cymatics, I'd like to recommend Stanford's music. I was blown away by his Automatica video (basically, his music is accompanied by the vigorous movement of industrial robots playing instruments). But I was even more surprised by how much I liked the music itself. It's safe to say I haven't discovered any musician I like this much in 30 years. Quel suprise. https://nigelstanford.com/ https://nigelstanford.com/
