String theory lied to us and now science communication is hard [video]
- paulpauper 4y agoString theory lied to no one. If anyone is to blame, blame the media, not the the theorists. This notion that string theory sucked up resources from everything else is wrong. Science research is not some monolithic thing. Many theoretical physicists work on things that are not string theory. String theory is just a small aspect of theoretical physics. It's not like non-string theory concepts are ignored or disregarded or cannot get published. There are plenty of competing theories and ideas that got coverage.
