You can just write down on some paper, twix 200 calories (or whatever), done. It's on the side of the wrapper.
Or just sack off chocolate bars. They're good as an occasional (e.g. monthly or something) treat, but really it's just not food is it?
- thewataccount 4y ago> Or just sack off chocolate bars Basic calorie counting goes a long way. And IMO is where 90% of people should start. But it's not as simple as "cut out the junk". Cashews for example are 150calories for 18 nuts. I would eat a bag of these, and I doubt anyone would call these "unhealthy" other then the sheer calorie amount. This goes for a lot of "healthy" foods. Finding "healthy" and "low calorie" and "reasonably cheap/convenient" is incredibly difficult from my experience. You can go further than calorie counting, there's different "types" of calories, different selections of food to keep you feeling full, strategies like fasting/keto can change how your body metabolizes food/your hunger. There's some "junk" food you don't have to stop eating. These strategies _have_ to be accompanied by a calorie deficit to really be affective though and are not "miracle cures". By all means you can keep eating a chocolate bar a day. Just know that it's ~24 cashews worth of calories. Again you can get more into this, as the nutritional value of a chocolate bar vs 24 cashews is very different, but this will still make a massive impact and shouldn't be an issue if the rest of your diet is reasonable. EDIT: IMO - 16/8 fasting keeps the hunger at bay most of the day, and from my experience makes it easier to plan calories because I'm only eating 1 meal + snacks.
- throwaway22032 4y agoI don't mean sack off chocolate bars because they're calorific, they're not really unless you eat a ton. Just that they're basically pure sugar, there are better snacks that you'll both enjoy more and will satiate you more. Like you said, you "can" eat them. But it's just a bad relationship with food (comfort eating) which people who want to lose weight generally want to get away from.
