This is because the waters have been, seemingly intentionally, muddied. I have seen criticism of Judaism, oddly enough even criticism by ethnic Jews, as being considered "anti-Semitic" and similar terms. Furthermore, the distinction in my experience seems to be rejected by many Jews who consider "being Jewish" as being essentially and intrinsically related to the Jewish religion enshrined in cultural practice.
- jb12 3y agoIt is definitely possible for Jews to say antisemitic things, in the same way it is possible for people of colour to say racist things.

- svnt 3y agoThe conclusion doesn’t seem to follow. All people have race, and so can be externally racist, but you would not consider a white person aggressively critiquing white culture to be anti-white, would you?
- Minor49er 3y agoWhy not?
- barry-cotter 3y agoYes, you would. Whether speech is racist or not is a characteristic of the speech, not determined by the speaker’s skin colour.
- pfannkuchen 3y agoRight, was Luther anti-Christian? Such people are generally called “X reformers”, not “anti-X” as an outsider would be.
