The email failed to mention the refund part, which I find completely dastardly on Amazon's part. Someone did the math on those "purchased in the last 12 months" refunds and then included it in the blog post but left it out of the email on purpose. The email is almost verbatim taken from the blog post except that product refund part. I really doubt most people will find the blog post and will just see the email and give up and I guess recycle their perfectly functioning sunsetted item.
