Ad based media/journalism is hopeless. Stuff behind a paywall maybe can survive if you cater to a specific audience (politics junkies, businesses). The vast majority of journalism though will be explicitly public relations and a defacto wing of an economic entity.
- elzbardico 4y agoCommentary and analysis should be fine as professions for the highest levels. You can make a pretty good living out of subscriptions and even multiple millions out of a contract with a streaming service if you are an A-level analyst. But reporting requires some level of infra-structure that is harder to bootstrap.
