Play on BSD
- sakras 3y agoThis is very cool and I like the idea of gaming on BSD a lot, but this site seems to be Under Construction on most of the pages I click on. Maybe wait for it to be more complete before submitting?
- billyhoffman 3y agoWow, it’s not often I see something posted to HN that also is a Gemini capsule: gemini://playonbsd.com/
- GauntletWizard 3y agoEven as a protocols nerd, I had no idea what you were talking about, and had to use some google-fu to figure it out. https://geminiquickst.art/ https://geminiquickst.art/ - Gemini is a web-alternative, which I would compare to the gopher protocol.
- ecliptik 3y agoThe Project Gemini site is here: https://gemini.circumlunar.space/ https://gemini.circumlunar.space/ There are multiple Gemini browsers, with LaGrange [1] one of my favorites since it works on desktop and mobile and also supports gopher:// 1. https://gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/ https://gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/
- ecliptik 3y agoI did originally discover this on Gemini via CAPCOM and after the fact saw it also had an http site.
- gumballindie 3y agoThe moment steam and unity run on freebsd i am switching for good. That os is just amazingly designed and was my first unix experience. I can mod the shit out if it and is rock solid but sadly cant run any of the two. As soon as it nails gaming this os will become extremely popular.
- rasz 3y agoyou forgot about gpu drivers
- gumballindie 3y agoThats a dependency of the two and thus implied. GPU drivers are a must and i think should be high priority. Freebsd lost the server market but it could aim for the desktop market.
- sillywalk 3y agoThe Playstation 5 OS (Orbis?) is based on FreeBSD. That sort of counts.
