First look: RNC slams Biden in AI-generated ad
- nickthegreek 4y agoMy election bingo card did not have an official governing body of a party to be the first to use AI images of their opponent in an attack ad.
- smt88 4y agoConservative industrialists invented astroturfing and have been its most prolific practicers, so I don't find this surprising at all. I'm more concerned that savvy authoritarians will go much further than this. Saudi Arabia is highly antagonistic and has enormous stakes in US tech firms.
- jruohonen 4y agoA sign of things to come. (No political opinions involved, but if all that was done by AI, it was pretty impressive.) For those who are watching the disinformation scene, 2024 has long been projected to be the super election year: https://www.disinfo.eu/outreach/our-newsletter/disinfo-update-07/03/2023/ https://www.disinfo.eu/outreach/our-newsletter/disinfo-updat... The US, EU, and India all have big elections in that year. It will be a big showcase on how severely these AI things will be (mis)used. Hopefully the EU has the DSA in place by that time so that people can later conduct audits, including about the use of AI.
