A lot more places could use cleaner air to breath with electric cars and bikes. Anybody living in a big city who has jogged behind a truck or even mopeds, knows its not fun breathing exhaust fumes. A big truck, you can almost understand the amount of noxious exhaust (still rather not have the pollution), but stuff coming from little crappy mopeds can be amazing. Little reason for that person to not go get an electric moped instead (if available).
Most people are not travelling that far from work or the office, nor needing to go that fast (as risking a ticket anyway), to not see an electric vehicle as a viable choice. Instead of destroying the air quality while sitting in traffic, we all could breathe a little easier and get a little more fresh air.
- londons_explore 3y agoIf I run a stinky chicken farm, you can bet the neighbours will complain to the city and I'll be ordered to shut it down or do something about the smell or at least compensate my neighbours. However, if I drive a stinky truck around, giving everyone lung cancer and heart disease, that's fine.

- milkytron 3y ago> At least they effectively regulate emissions in the US. This is subjective. Cafe standards incentivize manufacturers to make and sell larger trucks and SUVs. I'd argue they may be effective in some ways compared to other countries, but there are still gaping holes in how emissions are regulated.
