A Fine Mess of Ramps: Tradition, Community Thrive at W. Virginia's Ramp Dinners
- turtleyacht 3y agoRamps are plants, not necessarily restaurants right off the highway (entry/exit ramps).
- marymkearney 3y agoHah yes, I just looked again at this headline, thanks for the clarification. Edited to add: Ramps are highly aromatic wild onions that are foraged in natural areas. They're celebrated at festivals throughout West Virginia as heralding the arrival of spring.
- SideburnsOfDoom 3y agoAt first reading, I assumed that "ramps" meant a slope, used as a more wheel-friendly alternative to stairs.
- marymkearney 3y agoGood insight, thanks. The article title would be clearer with a reference to foraging or wild onions. It's not obvious at first that it's on Serious Eats.
- marssaxman 3y agoUseful timing - a bag of ramps arrived in my family's CSA box a couple of days ago. Now I have some idea what we could do with them.
