The boozy story of how we decided alcohol was a health boon in the ’90s
- moritzwarhier 4y agoGreat submission IMO, and a pretty nuanced and dry (no pun) read. This myth is still very present in the heads of people born pre-1990 (myself included). Same as with nutrition, the science is complex, it seems almost impossible to control for influencing factors. Also, I find that my primal brain needs to hear facts about health and nutrition very often to actually digest them.
- jeffhwang 4y agoQuite good and fair article about the changing scientific consensus and the various reasons that the ‘French paradox’ got so popularized ~30 years ago. The Maintenance Phase podcast did a good episode on this updated thinking (September 27, 2022): https://podtext.ai/maintenance-phase/the-french-paradox https://podtext.ai/maintenance-phase/the-french-paradox
