Such a simple, feasible, and useful idea. I'm surprised this hasn't been a thing for a decade already.

- yosito 4y ago1997! Why hasn't this become mainstream?
- justsomehnguy 4y agoDefine 'mainstream' ? The market for this thing is pretty limited. And tongue controlled controllers aren't a novelty, they are used sometimes, but again - they are mostly one-time devices.
- cal85 4y agoI’ve never heard of tongue control devices before today. What are you referring to?
- zamnos 4y agoLikely this one, from 1998. https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0960-1317/8/2/028/pdf https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0960-1317/8/2/028... Unfortunately, Steven Hawking's muscular dystrophy affected his tongue as well so he was unable to use it, but it was in that context that I heard about it.
- justsomehnguy 4y agoJust search for 'tongue controlled/activated'. Eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQitEbzulvY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQitEbzulvY
- zamnos 4y agoIt requires custom hardware to fit each user's mouth properly, and as a medical device, a doctor's note is required. Or at least way back when. The FDA may have moved on that, enabling this device this time around.
