Why do you think their prices are unreasonable? Just curious. 1.5 cents per search doesn't sound expensive, although if you do 100 searches per day that's $45

- speedgoose 4y agoIt looks like they do some fair margin on top of the Microsoft Bing API: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/cognitive-services/search-api/ https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/cognitive-... Hopefully they can get volume discounts and reduce the prices.
- freediver 4y agoActually Bing API will be $28 per 1000 searches from May 1st [1] Kagi will remain at ~$10 (and yes we will be replacing Bing). [1] https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/bing/apis/pricing-update https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/bing/apis/pricing-update
- colordrops 4y agoI easily do dozens of searches per day, occasionally hundreds, especially when debugging obscure issues. It shouldn't be the most expensive subscription I've got by far. Well it could be, but I better not have to go to google or something else to get answers, and it's not quite there yet.
- throwaway2037 4y ago45 USD per month is more than what most people in advanced countries pay for their mobile phone service or broadband connection. Frankly, it's crazy to me. Anything more than 10 USD per month for better search is hard to defend. And yes, I know that Kagi is targeting a _very_ picky audience! B2C is a brutal business.
- eino 4y agoWhy would you pay that? You’d subscribe to the unlimited plan for 25$/mo.
- freediver 4y agoIt is never more than $25/month (Ultimate plan with unlimited searches)
