Yeah, we did things like standardize the size of a gas nozzle so they're universal in all cars and trucks (and lawnmowers, and...) regardless of make/model or brand of gas. Then we just allowed anyone who wants to make an electric to have a proprietary system. It's a standards problem, not infrastructure, per se.
