- PaulHoule 4y agoSome good ideas but many dots aren't connected. (1) He is talking about the needs of writers and the needs of readers but not making it clear that these aren't the same. Of course a writer wants as much visibility as possible, a reader has a limited ability to read and wants to satisfy their values as much as they can. (2) Of course RSS feeds wind up with increasing numbers of "unread" feed items, people will always subscribe to more items than they can read. A viable RSS reader very much need some kind of "algorithmic feed" (3) He seems to be praising and burying algorithmic feeds at the same time which is a good thing, technology for ranking feeds has improved so much in recent years, particularly small system can perform very well with a modest amount of data thanks to BERT and company
