It was a really good listen for the historical perspective alone. I did not know how much bad blood there was between Dave Winer and Crockford. Winer was a co-creator of XML-RPC, but REST and RPC are two different use cases. I guess they were not so clearly delineated at the time.
- denkmoon 4y agoIn practice they're not so delineated today either. How often do you find RPCs labeled "REST-like API". Few "REST-like" APIs actually apply HATEOAS, etc.

- osigurdson 4y agoI think true REST APIs should be called a HATEOS APIs these days to disambiguate. REST just means GET/POST json at this point.
