Eric Weinstein on 'Fallacy' of Quantum Gravity and Groupthink in Physics
- jfengel 4y agoIt's remarkable the way for ordinary scientific consensus turns into a conspiracy by the simple application of the word "groupthink".
- g42gregory 4y agoBut isn't the exactly point he is making that the scientific consensus hasn't produced any verifiable results and it's seemingly impossible to challenge this consensus? How useful is this exercise then?
- jfengel 4y agoIt's entirely possible to challenge the consensus. But his alternative was rejected for many reasons, none of which were "groupthink". It's an ad hominem argument because he can't defend it on scientific grounds, and he knows asserting a conspiracy will attract supporters among those who don't understand the domain.
