The problem with the complex edges of SQL are like regex for me: the problem isn’t whether I can figure it out once, it’s retaining it when you only need it once every 1-3+ months. For those uses I just accept that I won’t and don’t need to remember it, and will look it up when I need it. There is something to be said for learning the edges at least once so you can “know what you don’t know” when you forget.
