To me the biggest concern with AI weapons is not cyberwarfare (which has been QUITE underwhelming so far despite all the theoretical potential), nor even the potential loss of control over AI weapon systems.
What worries me the most are the economics of AI based warfare: How long would it have taken, in retrospect, for the US to get out of Vietnam if no price in American blood had been due at any point?
The potential to violently reign over a population (no longer need to recruit police/soldiers FROM that population to enforce your rule!) is really concerning, too.

- croutonwagon 4y agoI am more concerned with the drone based stuff they were doing in the Armenian/Azerbaijan conflict.[1][2][3] They would potentially remove some of the "risk" of engaging in a conventional war without the risk of human (military) life but stil be devastating and give nation/states an "out" when atrocities "slip" through, just like in the Nagorno-Karabakh region that most missed because russia has been busy with Ukraine [1] https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/nagorno-karabkah-drones-azerbaijan-aremenia/2020/11/11/441bcbd2-193d-11eb-8bda-814ca56e138b_story.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/nagorno-karabkah... - myrmidon 4y agoI agree, thats exactly the dynamics I'm worried about; AI only makes it marginally worse because you don't even need operators to push kill buttons...
