That was the starting point of my undergraduate independent seminar topic. Back then the complexity was even more mind-boggling, as I had barely any appreciation of the object-oriented world, and the idea of pushing all that into the micro-architecture was really hard to get my mind around, let alone talking about it to a class full of fellow students.
