Melatonin: Much More Than You Wanted to Know (SSC)(2018)
- Arrath 3y agoChalk me up as a member of the group for whom melatonin works, but gives me extremely weird dreams. The point about dosage was very interesting, I didn't know typically available pills were so much larger than the advised dose.
- et-al 3y agoFor anyone else interested, Gwern has also researched melatonin thoroughly (as usual): https://gwern.net/melatonin https://gwern.net/melatonin
- hammyhavoc 3y agoI used to take melatonin as a single-digit-year-old child in the '90s alongside Ritalin. I used to find that the although the melatonin definitely put me to sleep, I didn't feel all that rested for it—it was more like blinking then waking up hours later. I'd be interested to try it again after reading the link. My sleep hygiene is frankly appalling, sometimes I can be awake for days on end, and it's been that way ever since I was born, even prior to Ritalin. I don't currently take Ritalin, but intend on starting again. I know I need to take better care of myself in my thirties, that's an inevitability for everybody. I think I went to a sleep clinic as a child, but don't remember much about it or the results.
