Am I the only one who has not been able to get ChatGPT to produce what I consider to be passable writing? I've only succeeded in getting ChatGPT to output completely predictable, unoriginal, disengaging prose.
For example, try getting ChatGPT to re-write a story in the style of Franz Kafka. What you'll get is a completely flat agglomeration of tropes that sound like the first jottings of a high-minded middle schooler.
People keep acting like the arrival of ChatGPT is a death knell for writers but I'm just not seeing it. I can only conclude that most people don't give many shits about the quality of what they read. Maybe that's the real insight here.
- cyanydeez 3y agoSee, the issue is you. ChatGPT is the smartest guy in the room when that room is too stupid to question him. Basically, it's the George Carlin joke: imagine the average person and realize half the people are dumber than that.
- chillacy 3y agoIn my observation the people most excited aren’t writing top tier fiction, they’re writing marketing copy, SEO blog spam, and business emails. But who knows, if this technology improves as fast as AlphaGo did, it may start taking on the best of the best one day?
