When the exodus from Tumblr happened, the internet got a lot crazier and I am not yet sure that I mean the eccentric and quirky version of crazy here. If platforms would have never listened to advertisers, we would not have this problem. And advertisers would still pay for attention. Youtube could have just said that you either accept all content or you won't get the attention. I doubt they would have lost any advertisers at all.
