One day the enemy came and they must have been tipped off because they were searching everything. A young officer was searching the cellar and rummaged through the beans with his hand. At one point he stopped, his hand still among the beans, took a long look at my grandmother and shouted "Nothing here!". They left and she never met the officer again to thank him.
