Ask HN: How do I get a deep understanding of the Telecoms domain?

I'm 5 years working in the Telecoms domain in the DevOps area specifically. I still don't have a good understanding of the systems I'm managing and I don't have a good enough understanding of the business side of Telecoms to hold a conversation. I've read a couple of books. Maybe I'm less intelligent than I thought I was, but I can barely make it through a page of any book I've tried. Between the acronyms and technical talk from page 1, the barrier of entry seems too high to even begin learning it. For those of you who have expertise in the Telecoms space, how do you recommend I build my own expertise to the point where I can hold a conversation with another expert in the industry? Do you have recommended books, courses, ways of learning etc? Thanks in advance.
