As far as I know, the whole thing is mostly the US press being its usual self. Macron said Europe should aim for more independance and refuse to be a vassal of the US, that Europe shouldn't let the US drag it in its own current commercial conflict with China and that France stands being the status quo regarding Taiwan as it has always done. That all seems pretty tame.
