Reversibility of changes in CI/CD pipeline?

How many of you actually do test the reversibility(or rollback) of database changes across all environments through CI/CD pipeline? Do you think it’s absolutely a requirement to test reversibility of changes in CI/CD pipelines?

How else would you address a bad change?

  To keep things simple, one could actually take backup of database and roll out changes with the assumption that failures would be fixed forward, without having a need to test reversibility of such changes
