It'd be easier if I had local friends, honestly! I made a lot of friends in the last 10 years, and over time, they've all moved away from where I live to other places. My best friends are 500, 1700 and 2000 miles away, respectively, and if I want to see them, someone has to book a flight. So I just Zoom and have to be satisfied with that. Otherwise, I'll echo the others around here who talked about the suspicion of others that gets in the way. I live in an area where if I go to a coffee shop at any given time, the chances of seeing someone I know -- other than the barista, of course -- is fractionally small, much less running into someone enough times to form a genuine friendship. It's hectic.
