I mean, yeah, they have uses. I just struggle to find them. Something else usually wins out. Height-constrained layouts are usually a decent bet, tantalum shines if aluminum can't fit! They do leak pretty badly though. I think it's better than other electrolytics, but it's still not great. Of course, they do tend to do better than spec... until they don't. It's been a while since I've done micropower stuff though, so what do I know.
