I can believe it. I've worked a lot of jobs at the bottom most of my life. I've been offered more work here and there with management-ish roles. I've never taken them because I know that for myself at that time I wouldn't be a good manager for people under me, insecurities being one of them. Additionally the pay is too low for the extra work. I've left 2 jobs within the last 2 years because of insecure management. I don't have a problem with people being insecure. I have a problem with when people use those insecurities to lash out and accuse me of not doing my job or being dishonest (to cover themselves). I'm trading 8 hours of my life a day 5 days a week. I'll been damned if I have to have my time be insulted and wasted like that anymore.
