Brits start 'em young with 20% of tots 'owning' a smartphone
- chiefalchemist 4y agoParents use these devices as pacifiers. And of those parents, best I can tell, are aware of what the children are consuming. At least with TV a given channel could (ideally) be trusted to provide kid-appropriate content. On top of that, the TV experience is shared (e.g., with siblings), and there was time away from TV. Now every trip to the supermarket or where even, the device as-baby-sitter is there. The child isn't observing their environment, they're head is always down. What are going to be the unintended consequences?
