It will be inevitability disrupted due to the age demographic bomb. Too few people are being born, and retirees are beginning to outnumber working adults. we will either be constantly short of staff in multiple industries or we will start augmenting staff shortages with AI and eventually full replacement
- themitigating 4y agoThat's why immigration is so important
- justrealist 4y agoThe third world is not an infinite factory of human flesh to patch societal issues that the developed world can't be bothered to address. Birthrates in the developing world are mostly at or below replacement already.
- themitigating 4y agoYes it is actually and birthrates in third world countries are much higher
- shjake 4y agoOnly the case in parts of Subsaharan Africa at this point. India for instance is at around 2.0 and many Latin American countries at a similar level as the US.
- chaostheory 4y agoThat doesn’t mean themitigating isn’t right. He is. The issue is that immigration isn’t a permanent solution since only central Africa isn’t suffering from the male fertility problem. Still, immigration is a needed tool to buy us time to find a solution. Right now, AI is the top contender regardless of how people feel about it
- justrealist 4y agoMale fertility is a problem, but it's not the driver of the birthrate drop in the developed world.
- chaostheory 4y agoIt is the main driver of the birth rate drop. The studies accounted for socioeconomic changes.
- themitigating 4y agoI was wrong. I didn't realize, nor would I ever think, the birthrate would go down in other countries. I checked Mexico and it's near the US. My point still stands, it's a source of new people. Like the irish and now latin Americans they fill am important role.
