I never felt the slightest anxiety about LLMs taking my job or having much impact on the field. 40+ years into my career as a programmer I remember the previous supposed threats to my career and how they didn't come close to the hype. Outsourcing/offshoring, no-code/low-code, snap-together component libraries, "everyone can code." All of those things had some effect but nothing close to the media-hyped predictions. Programming remains hard because it requires skill and talent and focus. No matter how good the tools get they can't do the hard parts of software development.
