Is it surprising that a newspaper admits it protects it's sources? I don't get the concern here.

- PeterWhittaker 4y agoLikewise. If someone leaks to a newspaper, e.g., The NYT, it’s legitimate, IMHO, for other papers to attempt to discover the leaker. (I’m trying to recall the history of The Pentagon Papers and of Watergate for any similarities, but drawing a blank. I blame long hot days after a tough winter.)
- mongol 4y agoI know less about Watergate than probably 99% of HN readership, but I recall a source Deep Throat, and a wikipage seems to confirm your thoughts on this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Throat_(Watergate) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Throat_(Watergate)
