Valve benefits from having lots of people give honest reviews and marking reviews helpful. But now I'm not going to participate at all, for fear of losing access to all of my games. I'm sure many others will do the same. I wonder if it was worth it.

The article is quite clear about nobody losing access to their games. They were blocked from write access to the review system for a while, that's it.

  I think the point is that they showed they may sanction you for unpredictable reasons, without justification.
