There is no question, laptop use is counter productive in most classes. Unfortunately, for the student there are many classes where a student might already know most/all of the material, but is still "forced" to attend the class. Then it is gaming, chatting, browsing time. In fact, teachers could use students' laptop use as barometer for how engaging their teaching methods are.
