Or, is it mental illness to think death or suicide must be avoided at any and all cost? Death is inevitable and a natural part of the cycle of reality. Why should we care if someone's happy believing they ascend somewhere by suiciding? Someone could just as well believe that typing letters into a machine and waiting for more to appear from someone else you've never met on the other side of the world is a form of mental illness, or a type of spiritual suicide. Some people may believe the entirety of modern life and many of its trappings are a form of mass insanity. And who's to say they're wrong?
