Personally, I've been working on OnlineOrNot (https://onlineornot.com/ https://onlineornot.com/) for over two years - it's a set of uptime monitoring tools, with a hosted status page.
There's an open source CLI (https://github.com/onlineornot/onlineornot https://github.com/onlineornot/onlineornot), and a public API under active development.
