- throwaway81523 4y agoSo you have a broke white opoid addict and a broke black opoid addict. They are identical in age, clothing, general health, manner of speaking, etc. Only the skin color is different. Both try to get money by offering to wash the windows of cars stopped at nearby intersections, using identical prepared spiels. Do they have similar success rates? Why or why not? Is the effect repeatable across different pairs of addicts, different localities, etc.? That is sociology and that particular experiment seems scientific as far as I can tell.
- thinkingemote 4y agoIndeed this use of sociology is how the traditional measures tried to became more nuanced by what's called the "intersections" of various oppressions where they intersect and cross over with the broader socio-economic class. This then morphed into identity politics which prioritises these more individual experiences. And before we know it no one talks about class or socioeconomics anymore.
