50% of pre-seed angel checks are <$25K
- SOLAR_FIELDS 3y agoI wonder how much these people are giving up for this check? I guess part of what you’re buying into is an advisory network, but for an engineer or even a non-engineer in tech who manages their finances this is definitely an amount that can be self funded with a little effort. The only reason I would be considering this is for the network intangibles and even then it would be for a very small amount of equity.
- rahimnathwani 3y agoThis is the median check amount. A single company may receive checks from multiple angels, so the total pre-seed round may be larger. Regarding valuation, pre-seed investments are often SAFEs or convertible debt, with a discount and valuation cap.
- jimhi 3y agoAt seed stage it the caps I’ve seen can range from 6-40 million taking these size checks. It’s truly all over the place
- ilrwbwrkhv 3y agoWhich country is this? In the US nobody writes under 100k.
- aosmith 3y agoThis is completely untrue.
- jimhi 3y agoIm surprised hacker news readers don’t know many yc companies take 10k checks at demo day. There’s also companies like https://attack.capital/ https://attack.capital/ where small amounts can be distributed into several companies.
