  Elon has enough money that why would he need to ruin his reputation on this? What is the motive?

    Well, he already has a reputation for pump and dump type of stuff. He did it with the tesla stock, had to settle with the SEC and then did it again with crypto stuff. I don't even keep up the guy very well and could tell you that. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to do the same thing with twitter, but got outmaneuvered on it and was left holding the bag. People who see money as a leaderboard like an arcade game, often times they don't care about anything but the bottom line... Having met / dealt with a few of them, they would be fine fucking over their friends / family if they could move up a few leader places.

    Maybe he likes the attention he gets from his fans but doesn't mind them losing money buying the top when he goes on TV and screams "to the mooooooon", and more examples as such
