Stable Diffusion XL Beta - Next-level photorealism
- ftxbro 4y ago> "The release of SDXL’s API will be followed by an open-source release of SDXL (currently in beta testing)" Interesting, I wonder if it will be as accessible as the existing stable diffusion. My understanding of image generation is that at one point Dalle-2 was best, then StableDiffusion was made public and everyone could run it with big GPUs and it was even better, now Midjourney v5 is the best one but it's by monthly subscription, and now I wonder about this next version of stable diffusion.
- famouswaffles 4y agoMidjourney has been the better base model since v3. When SD came out, i wouldn't say it was unarguably the better model (against Dall-E), and in fact Dall-E had noticeably better prompt understanding but the extra control and free open source nature gave it the edge over Dall-e which still hadn't been out of waitlist yet. as for midjourney, there's just currently no comparison. The only thing i'd say is that the new Dall-E (usable through Bing image creator) and a new model called Kandinsky 2.1 are much better than all the base SD models (incl the new XL)
- ftxbro 4y agoOK. My comment was meant more in the spirit of "I hope this news about Stable Diffusion means I can soon make even better pictures using my GPU, because that would be awesome!"
- famouswaffles 4y agofair. kandinsky is open source though
