- pxeger1 4y agoI've never seen a comment on HN redacted before. What does this mean?
- dang 4y agoMods sometimes put "[redacted]" in a comment when we're taking out personally identifiable information, such as doxing or when a user asks us to edit out their name or email address after the fact. In this case the GP contained a link to the suspect's linkedin page. Edit: after thinking about it, I think we probably don't need to redact. If it were a random person caught up in the story it would be different, but once a person has been arrested for a crime they arguably become a public figure, even though innocent-until-proven-guilty is fortunately a thing. It's a borderline case and I'm not sure, but anyway have restored the original comment for now. Edit 2: plus the same link appears in the article itself.
