Is it allowed to ask questions here in other languages?
Someone asked a question in Vietnamese and I answered it, and the question and my answer both got flagged. I ctrl-f searched English in the guidelines and I didn't see anything.

- brudgers 4y agoUsing English is an HN community norm. Flagging is the way the HN community maintains its norms. Occasionally, content in other languages appeals to the community and gets some traction. Generally, I presume non-english content does not prioritize community engagement since it outside of community norms. And not prioritizing community engagement is also a bit at odds with the vibe of HN. It's probably worth pointing out that HN works because there are not a lot of legal fine points to be argued over. So non-English content is allowed, but the community response tends to treat it as noise rather than signal. Good luck.
