I'm not sure why, but it does for me too.
However, to play devil's advocate -- what really is the issue?
If someone puts out a helpful link, they get a bit of monetary feedback, much like karma. What's wrong with that?
- codingdave 3y agoIt changes the incentives for commenting on HN. Instead of trying to contribute to the discussion, you are trying to monetize your comments, which incentivizes you to comment even if you have nothing to add as well as find reasons to talk about products you can link to even if they are not relevant to the discussion.
