- jnorthrop 15y agoThis could be built out as a service that is competitive to SendFile, DropBox and other file sharing services. If I understand it correctly the server between the sender and receiver never stores the file itself which is unique.
- sravfeyn 15y agoYeah the server here actually stores the file :), albeit temporarily.
- af3 15y agoI wonder, if it is possible instead of temporary storing files, to script reverse ssh tunneling [1]? [1] http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Reverse_Tunneling http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Reverse_Tunneling
- icebraining 15y agoThere's Share[1] and AeroFS, as far as I know, they're both P2P. EDIT: As a solution that doesn't need apps and uses the server only as a temporary middleman instead of actually storing the file, there's JetBytes[2]. - BerislavLopac 15y agoApparently, there is more and more kind-of P2P sharing apps and solutions coming out every day -- I've recently learned of http://folders.io/ http://folders.io/ -- with BitTorrent not being the only game in town any more. But one problem is still remaining, and the present solutions are under the heaviest attack: discovery. BitTorrent is using trackers, and we've seen attacks on sites like PirateBay that provide those services. Is there a way to develop -- or perhaps it's been done already -- a discovery and tracking system which is truly P2P and simply cannot be attacked, at least not in a technical way?

- pault 15y agoMaking references to movie piracy in your description hurts your credibility. You are playing into the content industry's argument that file sharing == piracy. Don't do that.
- DrCatbox 15y agoWhat makes you think that he has not bought and payed for the movie Inception - to which he then bacme a rightful owner of a dvd/blueray? Having ownership of it, he is free to copy it for his own purposes, such as to make backups or to borrow it to his friend, like any other private property he has?
- pault 15y agoWho's to say the dead prostitute in my car didn't die of natural causes?
- icebraining 15y agoAs far as I know, while it's perfectly OK to share the physical disc with your friend, it's not legal to distribute copies of the movie to others (including your friend) even if you own a legal copy.
- sravfeyn 15y agoAh, I should change it!
