Meditation-induced states are orthogonal to smarts and the calculating mind but I consider them conscious.
- PaulHoule 4y agoAccording to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentience https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentience "Sentience is the capacity to experience feelings and sensations" and by that definition if a lobster feels pain when you throw it into boiling water it is sentient. Now that I think about it, it's hard not to think an octopus is sentient.
