No, it is the very same thing in the case of this list. Precision is important.
Protesting that one's cause is noble would be missing the point of the quote entirely. Everybody who has ever made lists thought they were doing it for a worthy cause.
- PartiallyTyped 3y agoThey are not suspected to, they have been caught in consensual acts, they were caught red handed to be hypocrites. A gay person isn't a hypocrite for being gay, a gay person condemning and harming other gay people is a hypocrite.
- throwawaylinux 3y agoAnd I suppose those who harm gay people by bullying them and publicly shaming them deserve everything that's coming to them, especially if they're doing from a hypocritical and misguided delusion of righteousness... Again missing the point. It isn't a challenge to defend oneself, it's an invitation to reflect. Less talking, more thinking.

- PartiallyTyped 3y agoAgain completely missing the point, nobody is bullying them because they are gay, nor are they being bullied. They are facing the consequences of purposefully breaking the social contract by harming LGBT people.
- throwawaylinux 3y ago> Again completely missing the point, nobody is bullying them because they are gay, nor are they being bullied. That's not what the list says.
- PartiallyTyped 3y agoso why aren’t my gay friends on that list? After all, if they are being bullied because they are gay, all gay people should be listed on there.
- throwawaylinux 3y agoPresumably because their behavior does not breach what the list maker deems acceptable. > After all, if they are being bullied because they are gay, all gay people should be listed on there. I don't know what you mean. That's not a gotcha.
- PartiallyTyped 3y ago> Presumably because their behavior does not breach what the list maker deems acceptable. So it’s not because they are gay, it’s their behaviour. I am glad we finally agreed though I am sad we had to spend as many steps to reach this conclusion.

- PartiallyTyped 3y agoYou seem to have confused your insults and arrogance for insight. There's no ideology involved, only breaking the social contract and hurting others. I'd refer you to Scanlon.
- anigbrowl 3y agoYour point is misdirection.
- throwawaylinux 3y agoWhat do you think my point is, and what is it "misdirecting" from?
