Interesting, thank you, I did not know that! I knew there were white Russians in China that are nevertheless "Chinese" (by observing culture and language). I did not know they are represented in the NPC.

((Wow...the racial definition is tricky, and while not the interesting question here, I'll talk out loud to try to come up with a better definition: my "white people" includes all people--such as those Westerners (Europeans, Americans, Australians, NZers, Canadians, British, etc...) that may become "naturalized Chinese citizens" -- who are "white" (whatever that means) Anglosaxon or whatever...could be more expanded to Spanish, Turkish, Middle Eastern..."white" is not such a great word--but that definition here, while tricky, is not so interesting as the main question--so in this case, maybe we can replace white with "other races" and use it as a stand-in to mean, "non-han-Chinese and not from ethnic group originating in East (NE, SE) Asia." -- so it could be people from India, Middle East as well as "typically" "white" Europeans/etc.))
So--back to the main question--is it possible (legally), and probably (realistic to expect) these people to hold senior leadership in the Central government?
So NPC has around 3000 members--while certainly "senior" there are several more powerful positions above it like:
NPC Standing Committee - 150 people
Politburo Standing COmmittee - 7 members
Central Committee - 200 people
State Council - 35 people
Central Military Commission - unknown small number
is it possible (legally), and probably (realistic to expect) these non-han-Chinese people (naturalized Chinese citizens or descendents of non-ethnic-Chinese immigrants into China) to hold senior leadership in the Central government, which may be expressed as membership on one of those above small groups?
What about in Taiwan, Macao or HK?
